Dianna has worked as a Speech Pathologist for 42 years, a journey which has taken her from SA to WA and England, working across many different areas of speciality over the years. For about 30 of those years, she has specialised in working with adults with neurological disorders, such as stroke, head injury, Parkinson’s, MND and FND. She continues to work for the SA government as senior therapist in an outpatient clinic, an in-the-home team and a stroke follow-up team. She has specialised in student training for many years, including current University lecturing. More recently, she has indulged her passion for sharing clinical experience in the form of research, and has published and presented in the area of swallowing disorders.
Dianna is not only passionate about passing on her experience, but also helping all adults and their families to understand their communication difficulties and motivating them to improve in the best way that they can. Technology has moved ahead rapidly in her career, along with improved outcomes for clients. She believes that all adults have the right to good communication, but first they have to believe it themselves.
On a personal note, Dianna has been married for 25 years and has a 20-year-old daughter who is now studying Civil Engineering and Architecture at Adelaide University. Her second child is a 2-year-old Dalmatian, who has been a much bigger handful than the first child!
